Placements24 is seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to join a global remote R&D team. You will design scalable pipelines for genomic data analysis, implement variant calling and functional genomics workflows, and collaborate with biologists to translate results into testable hypotheses.

The role emphasizes development, visualization, and data management, with strong focus on staying current with bioinformatics tools and trends.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master’s in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in bioinformatics analysis with NGS data.
• Proficiency in Python or Perl, and Bash scripting.
• Experience with common bioinformatics tools and databases (Bioconductor, Ensembl, UCSC Genome Browser).
• Knowledge of statistical methods and ML applications in biology.
• Strong communication skills for a remote collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable bioinformatics pipelines for large-scale genomic data.
• Implement and validate algorithms for data analysis, variant calling, and functional genomics.
• Collaborate with experimental and computational biologists to interpret results and generate hypotheses.
