Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Lead Mechanical Project Engineer to spearhead key initiatives in their remote-first engineering division, nominally based in George, South Africa. You will oversee the full lifecycle of mechanical projects, coordinating cross-functional teams and ensuring technical, quality, and budget targets are met.

This leadership role requires a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years of PM experience in mechanical contexts, with a track record of delivering

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of project management experience in mechanical engineering.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale, complex mechanical projects.
• Strong knowledge of PM methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
• Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver complex mechanical engineering projects on time and within budget.
• Develop detailed project plans with scope, resources, risks and scheduling.
• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and technicians in a remote work setting.
• Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to hit milestones.
• Provide regular project reviews and status reports with risks and mitigations.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
