Job summary
Placements24 is seeking a Remote Fiber Optic Network Specialist to design, optimize and troubleshoot large-scale fiber networks across South Africa. You will work with a distributed team to plan cable routes, splicing points, and equipment placement, while ensuring high-speed connectivity and reliability.
The ideal candidate has a degree or diploma in Telecommunications and at least 5 years of hands-on fiber design/deployment experience, plus proficiency with AutoCAD and GIS.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Telecommunications or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on fiber optic design and deployment experience.
- Proficiency with planning tools such as AutoCAD and GIS.
Responsibilities
- Design and plan fiber optic network layouts including routes and equipment placement.
- Perform network analysis and capacity planning for improvements.
- Develop technical specs and project plans for deployments and upgrades.
- Troubleshoot fiber optic network performance and connectivity issues.
- Stay updated on fiber optic advancements and propose new solutions.
- Collaborate virtually with field teams and project managers to deliver projects.
