Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Embedded Systems Engineer to contribute remotely from Pretoria, Gauteng. You will own the embedded lifecycle—from concept to firmware and testing—for next‑gen IoT devices, collaborating with a distributed engineering team.

You should have strong embedded C/C++, RTOS experience, and hands‑on work with ARM Cortex‑M and ESP32, plus hardware debugging tools. Remote work flexibility is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• 5+ years in embedded systems development.
• Experience with embedded C/C++.
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M and ESP32.
• Knowledge of RTOS concepts.
• Familiarity with hardware debugging tools and Git.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement embedded firmware for microcontrollers and microprocessors.
• Develop RTOS and device drivers.
• Integrate hardware and software components for optimal performance.
• Write efficient, well‑documented C/C++ code.
• Debug and test embedded systems using debugging tools.
• Work with wireless protocols (Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi, LoRa).
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to define interfaces.
• Participate in code reviews and promote best practices.
• Manage firmware versions and release processes.
