Job summary

Placements24 seeks a qualified Data Protection Officer to oversee our data privacy strategy and ensure POPIA and GDPR compliance in a fully remote capacity. You will develop policies, perform DPIAs, manage data breaches, and serve as the primary contact for data protection authorities.

The ideal candidate has a legal or compliance background with at least 4 years in data privacy or information security, DPO experience is a plus, and certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT are highly

• Minimum 4 years in data privacy, compliance or information security; DPO experience a plus.
• Experience developing and implementing data protection policies and DPIAs.
• Certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM or CIPT are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies and procedures.
• Monitor compliance with POPIA and GDPR.
• Advise on DPIAs and assess data processing activities.
• Act as primary point of contact for authorities and individuals on data protection matters.
• Provide training and awareness programs on data protection principles to employees.
• Manage records of data processing activities and data breaches.
