Old Mutual Limited in Johannesburg, South Africa, seeks a Chief Data Privacy Officer to lead the privacy strategy, design and improve data protection frameworks across business units. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will act as the main contact for regulators, manage risk assessments, and foster a culture of privacy across IT, risk, compliance and operations.

The role demands 10+ years in data privacy, strong knowledge of POPIA and GDPR, and a Bachelor’s in Law or Information Security,

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security or related field
• Ten years in data privacy, governance or compliant roles
• Experience in financial services is preferred

Responsabilidades

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive data privacy program aligned with POPIA, GDPR, and other regulations
• Lead privacy impact assessments for new products, services, and tech initiatives
• Serve as primary liaison with the Information Regulator and other authorities
• Advise senior leadership on privacy risks and regulatory changes
• Oversee investigation and resolution of data breach incidents and notification processes
• Design and deliver privacy awareness training for employees
• Collaborate with IT security to deploy encryption, access controls, and anonymization
• Monitor and audit data processing activities for ongoing compliance
• Prepare and present regular privacy reports to the board
• Embed privacy by design into business decisions
