Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Remote Data Privacy Lawyer to join a growing legal team, working entirely remotely to ensure adherence to POPIA and GDPR across global operations.

You will develop and implement privacy policies, advise on DPIAs and data transfers, and respond to data breaches, coordinating with IT, security, and business units across time zones.

Qualifications

• Must have strong specialization in data privacy law and regulatory frameworks.

• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Remote Data Privacy Lawyer to join their expanding legal team, operating entirely remotely. This position is crucial for ensuring the company's adherence to global data protection regulations, including POPIA and GDPR. You will be responsible for developing and implementing robust data privacy policies, advising on data processing activities, and managing data breach responses. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive data privacy policies and procedures.


• Advise on data processing agreements, data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), and international data transfers.


• Provide expert guidance on compliance with POPIA, GDPR, and other relevant privacy laws.


• Manage and respond to data subject access requests and regulatory inquiries.


• Oversee the investigation and remediation of data breaches, coordinating incident response efforts.


• Conduct privacy training for employees and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court with a strong specialization in Data Privacy Law .


• Minimum of 5 years of experience focused on data protection and privacy regulations.


• In-depth knowledge of POPIA, GDPR, CCPA, and other international privacy frameworks.


• Experience conducting DPIAs and advising on data mapping.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.


• Proven ability to work effectively and independently in a fully remote environment.
