Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Developer Support Engineer based in South Africa. You will provide advanced technical support for backend services, databases, REST APIs, and Kubernetes in cloud and on-prem environments.

You will analyze logs, performance metrics, and API traffic to resolve complex issues, while collaborating with Support, Engineering, and Product teams. The role emphasizes autonomy, continuous learning, and documentation improvements.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience supporting Java-based web applications or comparable enterprise software environments.
• Strong troubleshooting capabilities across application code, logs, databases, APIs, infrastructure, and dependencies.
• Hands-on SQL experience with MySQL or MS SQL Server.
• Proven Linux command-line skills for log analysis and environment troubleshooting.
• Experience with REST APIs, SaaS or web-based applications, and distributed architectures.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced technical support for backend services, integrations, databases, configurations, and application behavior across cloud and self-hosted environments.
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide escalation support for complex/high-impact incidents.
• Troubleshoot installations, upgrades, migrations, performance issues, and environment-specific problems.
• Analyze logs, queries, API traffic, and metrics to identify root causes.
• Develop scripts and automation to address complex issues and streamline troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with Engineering on defect reproduction and workaround development.
• Support integrations involving REST APIs and third-party systems.
