Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Remote Site Safety Manager to develop and oversee health, safety and environmental programs for major infrastructure projects from a remote location. You will drive audits, incident investigations, and training to sustain compliance and a zero-harm culture.

You will lead remote safety initiatives, monitor regulatory changes, and advise teams on best practices, with opportunities for professional certifications and travel to critical inspection sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–8 years of construction site safety management experience.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Management.
• NOSA or IOSH certification highly desirable.
• In-depth knowledge of SA OHS Act and Construction Regulations.
• Strong auditing, hazard identification and incident investigation skills.
• Excellent remote communication, reporting and presentation abilities.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks remotely.
• Proficiency in safety management software and office tools.
• Commitment to zero-harm safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust HSE policies for construction sites.
• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, determining root causes and corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training programs to site personnel and management.
• Prepare safety reports including risk assessments and incident analyses.
• Advise project teams on safety best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure project sites have necessary permits and documentation.
• Promote proactive safety culture through engagement and leadership.
• Monitor changes in safety legislation and update company policies.
• Manage emergency preparedness and response plans.
