Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks an experienced Health and Safety Manager to drive safety culture across remote projects nationwide. You will develop and oversee comprehensive H&S management systems, ensure statutory compliance, and lead risk assessments and training from a virtual team.

The role requires 8+ years in H&S, SAMTRAC, SACPCMP registration advantageous, and strong remote engagement skills to shape safety performance, audits, and incident investigations while managing budgets.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
• SAMTRAC certification is essential.
• Professional SACPCMP registration is highly advantageous.
• Minimum of 8 years in health and safety management, preferably in construction or mining.
• In-depth knowledge of SA health and safety legislation and ISO 45001.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain H&S management systems across all projects.
• Ensure compliance with SA health and safety legislation (OHS Act, Construction Regulations).
• Conduct risk assessments and implement control measures.
• Deliver remote H&S training for site personnel and management.
• Investigate incidents and determine root causes with corrective actions.
• Promote a zero-harm safety culture and remote engagement across teams.
• Monitor KPIs and report safety metrics.
• Conduct site safety audits and liaise with regulators and clients.
• Manage H&S budget and resources.
