Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Cloud Security Architect to design and implement secure cloud environments across AWS, Azure, and GCP. You will define security strategies, create architectural blueprints, and ensure compliance with rigorous standards while collaborating with distributed teams from anywhere in South Africa.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years in information security, 4+ years in cloud security, strong IaC and container experience, and excellent communication skills for remote

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
• 7+ years of information security experience, with 4+ years in cloud security.
• Extensive experience securing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proficiency with IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation.
• Deep understanding of cloud networking, IAM, data protection and security monitoring.
• Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes) is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of relevant compliance frameworks and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Design secure cloud architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Develop and enforce cloud security policies and standards.
• Implement and manage cloud-native security services (WAFs, KMS, IAM).
• Conduct security assessments and audits of cloud deployments.
• Lead security automation and orchestration using infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Define IAM strategies and incident response plans for cloud environments.
• Provide guidance and mentorship on cloud security to engineering teams.
• Stay current with emerging cloud security threats and technologies.
