Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Architect to lead secure cloud design and strategy in a fully remote role. You will guide IAM, encryption, network security, and threat modeling across AWS, Azure and GCP, shaping security in the SDLC and incident response.

You will mentor teams, promote best practices, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive security maturity in a remote-first culture from Mahikeng or your remote location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field; Master's preferred.
• 8+ years in cybersecurity with strong cloud security architecture focus.
• Proven design/implementation experience for AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Deep knowledge of cloud security principles, IAM, encryption and monitoring.
• Experience with security automation, IaC, and CI/CD security integration.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (ISO 27001, GDPR).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, AWS Security) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect secure cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Develop and enforce cloud security policies, standards and procedures.
• Perform security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability management.
• Implement IAM, encryption, and network security controls.
• Create threat models, risk assessments, and security architecture docs.
• Collaborate with engineering/ops to embed security in SDLC.
• Lead incident response and stay current on cloud threats.
