Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks a Lead Cloud Security Engineer to design, implement and manage security for cloud infra across AWS, Azure and GCP. This fully remote role allows you to work from anywhere in SA while guiding a security team.

You will automate with IaC (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation), lead IAM, data protection and network security, run audits and pen tests, and drive DevSecOps across CI/CD. Strong leadership and cloud security expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in cybersecurity, with at least 3 years focused on cloud security engineering.
• Proven experience securing AWS, Azure and GCP.
• Hands-on with IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Strong problem-solving, leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and maintain secure cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure and GCP.
• Develop and implement security policies, controls, and best practices for cloud platforms.
• Lead IAM, data protection, network security, and vulnerability management in the cloud.
• Automate security processes and deployments using IaC and scripting languages.
• Conduct regular security audits, penetration testing, and risk assessments.
• Develop and manage incident response plans for cloud incidents.
• Collaborate with Dev and Ops to embed security into the CI/CD pipeline.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead a security team.
