Job summary

Placements24 seeks a highly experienced Remote Civil Design Engineer to lead conceptualization, design and development of large-scale infrastructure projects in South Africa. You will work autonomously within a distributed team, delivering compliant, innovative civil designs using advanced software.

The role requires a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng, 7+ years of infrastructure design experience, and strong communication skills to coordinate with clients and teams remotely.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional registration as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng with ECSA is essential.
• At least 7 years of progressive civil design experience on infrastructure projects.
• Experience with remote collaboration and high-quality communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop civil infrastructure projects including roads, bridges and water systems.
• Prepare detailed plans, calculations, specifications and reports using design software.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site analyses and conceptual designs for new projects.
• Collaborate remotely with internal teams, clients and stakeholders via digital platforms.
• Ensure compliance with national and international standards and best practices.
• Perform technical reviews and QA on designs produced by others.
• Utilize BIM and digital tools to enhance design efficiency and collaboration.
• Manage project documentation and ensure timely delivery of design packages.
• Stay updated on new technologies, materials and methodologies in civil engineering.
