Placements24 invites a Civil Design Engineer to join a fully remote team delivering urban development and infrastructure projects across South Africa. You will design conceptual and detailed solutions for roads, drainage, and public spaces, using CAD and GIS tools while aligning with local standards.

You should have a Bachelors in Civil Engineering, Pr.Eng or Pr.Tech.Eng is advantageous, and 6+ years in urban infrastructure design with strong communication for virtual collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• ECSA registration is advantageous.
• At least 6 years of civil engineering design experience focusing on urban planning and infrastructure.
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and GIS tools.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage time effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication for virtual collaboration.
• Strong understanding of South African urban planning principles and relevant legislation.
• Proven experience in designing and coordinating complex infrastructure systems.
• Ability to interpret and analyze spatial data and topographic information.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual and detailed designs for urban infrastructure including roads, drainage systems, and public spaces.
• Prepare drawings, calculations, and specifications using industry-standard software.
• Conduct feasibility studies and site analyses remotely using data and GIS.
• Collaborate with a remote team of engineers, planners, architects, and stakeholders.
• Ensure designs meet national and municipal standards and sustainability principles.
• Provide technical support to project teams and clients via virtual channels.
• Contribute to master plans and urban development strategies.
• Perform QA checks on designs and documentation.
• Research and propose innovative design solutions for urban infrastructure.
