Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Chemical Process Engineer to join their remote SA team. You will support process design, optimization, and troubleshooting across multiple plant sites using Aspen Plus and HYSYS.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, at least 4 years' experience, and strong analytical and remote communication skills to collaborate with on-site engineers and management.

This role offers flexible hours and remote work within South Africa.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in chemical process design and operations.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) is essential.
• Strong understanding of unit operations and safety standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and remote communication skills.
• Ability to manage tasks independently and meet deadlines in a virtual environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and optimize chemical processes using simulation software and engineering principles.
• Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Perform mass and energy balance calculations, equipment sizing, and specification.
• Troubleshoot process deviations and provide remote technical support to plant operations.
• Collaborate with R&D, operations, and project teams through virtual communication channels.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and process improvement proposals.
