REGION: Gauteng North
AREA: To be based out of our Johannesburg Office
OBJECTIVE: To ensure the effective implementation of the company’s sales strategy in the North Gauteng region. The Sales manager will also assist with regions such as Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
Responsibilities
The Key KPA’s for this role include (but not limited to):
Sales Volumes and Market Share:
- Ensure sales team reach monthly, quarterly and annual volume targets through brand prioritization by channel
- Ensure effective sales team, accurate customer segmentation, call cycle efficiency & planned call ratio management
- Ensure availability, visibility, pricing, promotion and regional market share targets are reached
- Monitor opposition activity and provide clear analyses on opposition strategy
Key Accounts:
- Ensure correct implementation of key accounts’ strategy
- Conduct monthly Key Account reviews - performance rebate; promotion planning; advert, forward share and rebate budget management
- Strong ability on Business Information Platforms incl. Repsly (ITX), Qlikview, Qliksense, and DataOrbis.
- Manage RSP\'s in terms of EDLP and maximum RSP\'s
- Ensure that RGBC achieves key account targets
Promotions:
- Ensure correct implementation of National/Regional Promotions by sales team
- Provide marketing with feedback on national and regional promotions
- Promotional planning & reporting
- Ensure RGBC promotion standards are adhered to at all times
Management of Sales Drivers:
- Ensure that the national promotions plan is effectively implemented in the Off and On-Con Markets
- Ensure that regional promotions are innovative, get people’s attention and capture their interest
- Design and implement innovative regional promotions and provide valuable feedback on promotions undertaken
- Ensure RGBC promotional standards are adhered to at all times
- Ensure that Marketing receives accurate and insightful feedback on promotions within required timeframes
- Ensure that promotions are well organised and professionally conducted according to RGBC’s standards
- Manage company assets to ensure best value-added outcome for the business
- Ensure pricing, distribution and forward share objectives are met
Financial Control and Credit:
- Manage Rebate and Cycle Deal expense accounts as per agreed standards
- Ensure RGBC's credit policy is communicated and understood by all (Trade and Sales Team)
- Manage sales team FSR process; vehicles; petrol card; credit card and entertainment allowances
- Manage Non Key Account Discount Budget as per agreed standards
- Manage promotion activation and stock budget as per agreed standards
- Promote good teamwork between Credit Controllers and Sales Reps
- Communicate all credit risks and irregularities
- Ensure PODs and credit notes are returned timeously
- Compile and submit a monthly vehicle condition report on sales team vehicles
People Management and Personal Development:
- Ensure each member of staff has a job description and a clear understanding of his/her job description
- Conduct full-day route rides with each assigned sales representative or brand builder – Route Ride Reporting
- Hold performance review sessions and conduct reviews with staff members
- Lead and mentor staff and together with each staff member, develop development plans and identify training needs
- Monitor team dynamics and take action to ensure good working relationships
- Ensure staff are aware of and understand company’s mission statement, goals and strategic priorities
- Organize team building and goal setting sessions
- Ensure that staff adhere to the company’s code of conduct
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 3-Year Relevant Qualification Preferable
- 5 Years Relevant experience – NB experience within FMCG / liquor industry experience will be preferable
- People management experience is necessary
- Product, service knowledge and understanding of category management
- Knowledge of marketing and accounting principles
- Ability to conceptualise and negotiate
- Customer orientation
- Sound interpersonal skills and creativity (big picture thinking)
- Team player and ability to work independently using initiative
- Endurance and ability to tolerate extended hours
