About the Role

Our client, a leader in the sustainable energy sector, is seeking a skilled Project Manager to oversee the development and implementation of renewable energy infrastructure projects in the Vereeniging, Gauteng region. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full project lifecycle for renewable energy installations (e.g., solar farms, wind energy projects), from feasibility studies and site assessment to construction and commissioning.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
• Lead and coordinate project teams, including engineers, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
• Oversee procurement processes, contract negotiations, and vendor management to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety, health, environmental (SHE) regulations, and quality standards throughout all project phases.
• Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and report regularly to senior management and stakeholders.
• Identify and manage project risks and issues, implementing effective mitigation and contingency plans.
• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among all project participants and regulatory bodies.
• Manage project finances, including budget tracking, cost control, and financial reporting.
• Ensure successful handover and integration of renewable energy assets into the operational grid.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil), Project Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with a significant portion focused on renewable energy projects or large-scale infrastructure development.
• Demonstrated experience managing projects from inception to completion, with a strong understanding of construction management.
• Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, regulations, and market dynamics in South Africa.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and risk management tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage budgets and control project costs effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.
• Experience working within the Vereeniging, Gauteng area or managing projects with similar geographical considerations is advantageous.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification is highly desirable.
