Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the execution of major renewable energy infrastructure in Midrand, Gauteng. You will drive planning, implementation and delivery of solar and wind projects, ensuring timeliness, budget adherence, and quality across all phases.

You will manage stakeholders, risk, contracts and teams, leveraging a strong track record in renewable energy project management. Travel to sites and client meetings is expected as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Civil) or Construction Management.
• PMP or PRINCE2 certification is advantageous.
• 7+ years in project management with 5+ years in renewables.
• Experience delivering large-scale capital projects from initiation to completion.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
• Familiarity with renewables regulations and market dynamics.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent developer and operator of renewable energy projects, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the execution of significant infrastructure developments in **Midrand, Gauteng**. This role is critical for the successful planning, implementation, and delivery of large-scale solar and wind energy projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for stakeholder management, risk assessment, contract negotiation, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record in project management within the renewable energy sector, coupled with excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills. You will be instrumental in driving the company's growth and commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of renewable energy projects, from conception and feasibility studies to construction and commissioning.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Oversee project execution, monitor progress, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and issues.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, contractors, and other third parties.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead and motivate project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Engage with stakeholders, including clients, government agencies, and local communities, to ensure project success.
• Conduct regular project reviews and provide comprehensive reports on project status to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil), Construction Management, or a related field.
• PMP or PRINCE2 certification is highly advantageous.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years focused on renewable energy projects (solar, wind).
• Proven experience managing large-scale capital projects from initiation to completion.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
• Excellent knowledge of the renewable energy sector, including relevant technologies, regulations, and market dynamics.
• Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation and stakeholder management.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage complex budgets and P&L responsibility.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
• Willingness to travel as required for project sites and meetings.
