Placements24 is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead renewable energy infrastructure initiatives from planning to handover in Klerksdorp, North West. The role requires a strong background in project management methodologies (PMP/PRINCE2), plus experience with procurement, risk management, and regulatory compliance in the South African energy

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a leading force in the Energy sector, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Project Manager to spearhead the development and execution of renewable energy infrastructure projects. Based in Klerksdorp, North West , this role is critical to delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for overseeing all phases of the project lifecycle, from initial planning and feasibility studies through to construction, commissioning, and handover. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned project management professional to make a significant impact in the growing field of renewable energy. We are looking for a strategic thinker with a proven ability to manage diverse teams and complex stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and closing of renewable energy projects, including solar farms, wind installations, and associated infrastructure.
• Develop detailed project plans, defining scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
• Manage project budgets effectively, ensuring cost control and financial reporting.
• Oversee the procurement process, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance management.
• Coordinate and manage all project activities, including design, engineering, construction, and commissioning.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, developing contingency plans as needed.
• Ensure all projects comply with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Liaise with stakeholders, including clients, government agencies, community representatives, and internal teams, to ensure alignment and effective communication.
• Monitor project progress, reporting on key performance indicators and providing regular updates to senior management.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil), Construction Management, or a related field.
• A Master's degree or MBA is an advantage.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years focused on renewable energy or large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on schedule and within budget.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
• Experience with contract management, procurement, and risk management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with the South African Energy sector regulations and permitting processes.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Experience working in the Klerksdorp, North West region is beneficial.
