Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) or Environmental Science.
• Minimum 6 years in project management, with renewables focus.
• Proven PV or wind energy project experience.
• Knowledge of project finance and policy/regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with EPC contract management.
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency with MS Project and Primavera P6.
• Ability to manage complex stakeholder environments and EIA processes.

About the Role

Our client, a leading player in the renewable energy sector, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to drive key initiatives based in Bloemfontein, Free State . This role is central to expanding the client's portfolio of solar and wind energy projects. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of these projects, from site assessment and feasibility studies through to construction, commissioning, and handover. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, project finance, and regulatory frameworks. Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills are essential. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of renewable energy projects (solar, wind).
• Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and due diligence.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) teams and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, permits, and environmental standards.
• Manage stakeholder relationships, including government agencies, community leaders, and investors.
• Oversee the procurement of equipment and services.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure the safe and efficient commissioning and handover of completed projects.
• Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil), Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of project management experience, with a strong focus on renewable energy projects.
• Proven experience managing solar photovoltaic (PV) or wind energy projects.
• Solid understanding of renewable energy technologies, project finance, and relevant policy/regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with EPC contract management.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Ability to manage complex stakeholder environments.
• Knowledge of environmental impact assessment processes.
• Experience working in a hybrid model, balancing office and field-based activities.
• Familiarity with the energy sector in the Free State province is highly advantageous.
