About the Role

Our client, a prominent entity in the South African energy market, is seeking a seasoned Renewable Energy Project Manager to join their growing team in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal . This role is crucial for the successful planning, execution, and completion of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and potentially other sustainable sources. The Project Manager will be responsible for all phases of project delivery, from initial conception and feasibility studies through to construction, commissioning, and handover. You will manage project scope, budgets, timelines, and resources, ensuring project success while adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire lifecycle of renewable energy projects, from initiation to closure.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope definition, work breakdown structures, timelines, and budgets.
• Manage project execution, ensuring timely completion of milestones and deliverables.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues.
• Coordinate and manage relationships with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant permits, regulations, and environmental standards.
• Lead and motivate project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Track project progress and prepare regular status reports for senior management.
• Manage project financials, including cost control and forecasting.
• Facilitate project reviews and ensure lessons learned are captured and applied.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil), Project Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years specifically in the renewable energy sector.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering solar and/or wind energy projects on time and within budget.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2).
• PMP or equivalent project management certification is highly desirable.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
• Strong financial acumen and experience in contract negotiation and management.
• Ability to analyze technical project requirements and translate them into actionable plans.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work in South Africa .
