Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Process Mechanical Engineer to join its industrial operations in Polokwane, South Africa. The role focuses on optimizing and maintaining mechanical aspects of industrial processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety.

You will troubleshoot mechanical issues, implement process improvements, and contribute to design and upgrade of mechanical systems within manufacturing facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering with a mechanical focus.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process industries (manufacturing, chemical, mining).
• Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and process equipment (pumps, compressors, heat exchangers).
• Experience with process simulation software and P&ID development.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical systems in an industrial environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize mechanical aspects of industrial processes to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical equipment failures and operational issues.
• Design, specify, and implement modifications or upgrades to mechanical process systems.
• Develop and maintain P&IDs and mechanical equipment documentation.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards in all mechanical operations.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve overall plant performance.
