Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proficient Process Mechanical Engineer to enhance our client’s Upington operations in the Northern Cape. The role centers on optimizing mechanical systems within industrial processes to improve efficiency, safety, and compliance.

You will analyze existing processes, design and modify equipment, develop P&IDs, test performance, and troubleshoot issues to ensure product quality and cost reduction. A strong grasp of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
• 5+ years in process or mechanical engineering in process industries
• Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and heat transfer
• Familiarity with process control systems and instrumentation
• Proficiency with CAD software and process simulation tools
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

• Analyze industrial processes to identify mechanical bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
• Design and modify mechanical systems, equipment, and instrumentation to improve process performance.
• Develop P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and equipment specifications.
• Conduct performance testing and validation of process equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues affecting process flow and product quality.
• Ensure mechanical systems comply with safety regulations and industry standards.
