Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Process Engineer for a chemical manufacturing facility in Rustenburg, North West. You will design, optimize, and troubleshoot processes to boost safety, efficiency, and yield while ensuring environmental and regulatory compliance.

The role involves cross-functional collaboration with R&D, production, and maintenance, and requires 4+ years of relevant experience and proficiency in Aspen Plus or HYSYS. Opportunities for growth and development are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in process engineering within chemical manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of chemical thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and reaction kinetics.
• Experience with process simulation software such as Aspen Plus or HYSYS.
• Proficiency in process troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of HAZOP, LOPA, and other process safety methodologies.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and environmental regulations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical manufacturing processes for safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Monitor process performance using data analysis and statistical methods.
• Troubleshoot process issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain process documentation (P&IDs, SOPs, batch records).
• Conduct PHAs and implement safety recommendations to mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with R&D, production, and maintenance to ensure integration and scale-up.
• Identify opportunities for improvements and lead technology upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Train operators and technicians on new procedures.
• Participate in capital project planning and execution related to process modifications.
