Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join its chemical manufacturing operations in Paarl, Western Cape. You will optimize production processes, improve efficiency, ensure product quality, and uphold safe working practices in a busy plant.

The ideal candidate has a chemical engineering degree and at least five years in process engineering, with experience using Aspen Plus or HYSYS and performing PSM/HAZOP analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical manufacturing industry.
• Strong understanding of chemical processes, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and reaction engineering.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.
• Experience with process safety management (PSM) and hazard analysis techniques (e.g., HAZOP) is essential.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, yield, and product quality.
• Troubleshoot process issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and waste.
• Conduct process studies, simulations, and pilot tests to evaluate new technologies and improvements.
• Ensure that all processes comply with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and R&D teams to ensure seamless integration of process changes.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, SOPs, and process safety information.
