Placements24 is seeking a Process Optimization Engineer to lead the improvement of chemical processes in Pietermaritzburg, focusing on efficiency, yield, and safety. You will model performance with Aspen Plus and other data tools, analyze KPIs, and propose practical optimizations across production lines.

The role requires 5+ years of experience and a strong foundation in kinetics, thermodynamics and separation processes, with collaboration across production, quality control and R&D teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in chemical manufacturing.
• Proven track record in process optimization and implementation of improvements.
• Strong knowledge of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics and separation processes.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing chemical processes to identify optimization opportunities.
• Design and implement process modifications to improve efficiency, yield and safety.
• Use process simulation software and statistical tools to model performance.
• Monitor KPIs and troubleshoot deviations to ensure quality.
