Job summary

Job description

Medipost Pharmacy is seeking to recruit a Pre-Dispensing Assistant for the Chronic Dispensing Unit, in the Pre-dispensing Department, which is being conducted for the Department of Health in the Western Cape. The pre-packing assistants will fulfil the CDU patient’s medicine regimens through pre-packaging to their needs, while adhering to good pharmacy practice, that ensures the safety and integrity.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB

STOCK PREPACKING

The position carries 5% of the responsibility weight of the department, which is tied to one (1) CDU Pre-dispensing Principle or Knowledge Area (KA).

Prepacking

The prepacking assistant must perform the duties as outlined:

BULK AND FINE PREPACKING

• Perform verification checks on assigned work (batch, quantity, product, and product label), i.e., batch control document versus physical stock.
• Timeously repack assigned original products into pre-packs (including counting tablets/capsules or carton-twinning) according to the standard operating procedures and principles set for the department by the CDU Pre-dispensing Manager.
• High-volume prepacking (HVPRP)
• Medium-volume prepacking (MVPRP)
• Low-volume prepacking (LVPRP)
• Real-time fine-picks (RT-FPs)
• Count and pack the pre-packs into suitable containers and shipper boxes (appropriately labelled) according to the standard operating procedures and principles set for the department by the CDU Pre-dispensing Manager.

FINE-PICK MANAGEMENT

• Assist the production fine-picking process according to the standard operating procedures and principles set for the department by the CDU Pre-dispensing Manager.
• Complete or assist in performing verification checks on the fine-pick control documents (FCDs) used in the fine-picking process, including verification of entries submitted on the FCDs, and capturing FCDs on the specified spreadsheet.
• Organise the fine-pick documents through the stages of electronic conversion, i.e., spreadsheet capturing, transfers-in, batching, and transfers-out.

SALVAGED MEDICINE AND BROKEN PACK MANAGEMENT

• Receive/collect salvageable medicine from the damages and expired medicine department, regularly. Maintain a log.
• Package salvageable medicine into minimum pack sizes according to the standard operating procedures and principles set for the department by the CDU Pre-dispensing Manager.
• Assist in maintaining the broken packs from Production within the broken pack location, i.e., their timely repurposing into possible pack sizes, with proper batch and expiry monitoring afforded to the process.
