Placements24 is seeking an experienced Project Manager for Mossel Bay to lead port development and logistics projects, driving operational excellence in a challenging maritime environment. The role requires 7+ years in maritime or logistics projects, strong stakeholder management, and a proven ability to deliver on time and within budget.

You will manage cross-functional teams, coordinate with regulators and shipping lines, and ensure safety and environmental standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with maritime, port operations, or logistics projects.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale infrastructure or operational enhancement projects.
• In-depth understanding of port operations, supply chain management, and international shipping procedures.
• Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet) and industry-specific tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of relevant maritime and safety regulations.
• Ability to work effectively in a demanding, fast-paced port environment.
• Experience managing budgets and financial controls for projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage planning, execution, and completion of maritime and logistics projects from initiation to closure.
• Develop detailed project plans with scope, objectives, timelines, resources, and budgets.
• Coordinate with internal teams, external contractors, and regulators to ensure project success.
• Oversee port infrastructure development, equipment upgrades, and process improvements.
• Manage project risks and issues with mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
• Liaise with stakeholders, including shipping lines, port authorities, and government agencies, with regular progress updates.
• Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial accountability.
• Conduct site inspections and performance monitoring of project activities.
• Lead project team meetings and foster effective collaboration among team members.
