Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee critical operational enhancements and infrastructure development in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. The role focuses on optimizing port operations, improving supply chain efficiency, and integrating new technologies.

The successful candidate will have a strong maritime/logistics background, proven project management skills, and the ability to drive complex initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of project management experience in maritime, shipping or logistics.
• Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
• Master's degree or PMP certification is a plus.
• Proven track record of managing complex operational and infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of port operations, supply chain management and related technologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
• Experience with relevant software and project management tools.
• Ability to work full-time on-site in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, ZA.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and completion of projects related to maritime operations, port infrastructure, and logistics systems.
• Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria with stakeholders.
• Develop project plans, including budgets, resources, and timelines.
• Manage project teams, internal staff and external contractors.
• Oversee procurement and implementation of new technologies and equipment.
• Monitor progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
• Facilitate clear communication with stakeholders, including operational teams, suppliers, and regulators.
• Conduct regular project reviews and provide status reports to management.
• Manage change control and integration of project outcomes into daily operations.
