Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an accomplished Project Manager to oversee large-scale civil construction projects in and around Mossel Bay, Western Cape. This leadership role requires extensive experience in roads, earthworks, and marine structures, managing the full lifecycle from planning to handover.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree with 8+ years of experience, strong leadership and budgeting skills, and proficiency in MS Project and Primavera P6.

Qualifications

• Requires a National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in managing large civil construction projects.
• Proven experience in roads, earthworks, and/or marine construction.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
• Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Excellent contract management and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and team-building abilities.
• Strong financial acumen and budget management skills.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of civil construction projects, ensuring successful completion.
• Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Oversee site operations, ensuring safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Manage procurement, subcontracts, and supplier relationships.
• Lead and motivate project teams, including engineers, supervisors, and site personnel.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
• Implement and monitor project controls, including progress reporting and risk management.
• Resolve site issues and conflicts effectively and efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
• Contribute to tender preparation and business development activities.
