Job summary

WNS, part of Capgemini, is seeking a facilities maintenance technician to join our team in Cape Town. You will perform general maintenance on walls, ceilings, floors, doors, windows and furniture, conduct inspections, and address plumbing and minor electrical issues as part of daily operations.

The role requires 1–2 years in building maintenance, a Red Seal Plumber qualification, and the ability to work shifts.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in general building maintenance.
• Red Seal Plumber qualification required.
• Fluent communication in English and Afrikaans is essential.
• Must be available for shift work (Mon–Fri).

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance on building elements—walls, ceilings, floors, doors, windows, and furniture.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to uphold facility standards.
• Address basic plumbing issues: clear drains, repair leaks, replace taps, minor pipework.
• Execute basic electrical tasks (non-certified): replace bulbs, fuses, and plug points.
• Track and maintain facility tools, equipment, and assets.
• Supervise and liaise with third‑party contractors during site visits to ensure policy compliance.
• Stay compliant with health, safety and internal company protocols.
• Provide prompt responses to emergency maintenance incidents.
• Assist with office layout changes, furniture reconfiguration, and minor installations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and work records.

Qualifications & Experience Required

• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in general building maintenance roles.
• Qualified red seal trade tested Plumber.
• Strong commitment to health & safety and compliance with facility protocols.
• Computer literate with good communication skills (English & Afrikaans essential).
• Must have own mobile phone and be available for shift work (Monday to Friday).

Preferred

• At least 1 year’s experience.
• Be able to work independently.
• Good work ethic.
• General Building work training.
• Familiar with OSHACT.
• Driver licence.
