Job summary

Performability Recruitment (Pty) Ltd is seeking a general maintenance/handyman for a commercial property. Must have plumbing installation experience to be viable for this role. Responsibilities include maintaining buildings, lighting, plumbing, and repairs with minimal disruption to operations.

The candidate will conduct site inspections, manage contractors, assist the Tech Services department, and support waste management and general upkeep. Salary offered is competitive with benefits.

Qualifications

• Must have plumbing installation experience.
• Minimum 2 years in a similar role.
• Ability to safely use common power and hand tools.
• Basic plumbing, electrical & mechanical skills.
• Good communication and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain buildings and facilities including plumbing and repairs.
• Conduct monthly site inspections and general cleaning/maintenance.
• Repair floors, doors, and piping as needed and supervise contractors.
• Assist with ad hoc tasks and waste management.

WANTED: General maintenance/ handyman for a commercial property

*MUST HAVE PLUMBLING INSTALLATION EXPERIENCE to be viable for this opportunity.

The successful candidate will be required to maintain buildings and all amenities and keep them in a pristine condition with minimal disruption to the production process.

Key Performance Areas

• Maintains buildings and facilities including lighting, plumbing, painting, and building repairs by visual inspection and MRV system.
• Conduct monthly site inspections.
• Responsible for general building cleaning and maintenance.
• Repairs and replaces floors, stair strips and piping as needed.
• Repairs and paints doors, windows, walls, ceilings, rooves and other parts of the building.
• Ensures contractors complete tasks satisfactorily and follows up on any deficiencies for corrective action.
• Maintains waste and recycling receptacles around the facility.
• Manages the quarterly clearing of the rejects store with the assistance of casual labor.
• Assists the Tech Services department with ad hoc tasks when required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
• Experience installing and replacing plumbing systems.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a same or similar role
• Ability to safely use common power and hand tools
• Basic plumbing, electrical & mechanical skills
• Ability to work well with others, including contractors
• Good communication skills
• Self-starter with good time management skills
• High work ethic, dependable and strong attention to detail
• Good planning and problem-solving skills

Salary range: +/-R150 000 per annum + benefits
