Placements24 is seeking a Hospital Pharmacist to manage inpatient pharmacy services in Soweto, ensuring safe dispensing, clinical support, and collaboration with physicians and nurses to optimize patient care.

The role requires SAPC registration, a B.Pharm or Pharm.D., and at least two years of hospital pharmacy experience, with strong communication and pharmacology knowledge. You will mentor staff and uphold formulary guidelines in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Dispense medications accurately for inpatient units following prescriptions and protocols.

You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes through appropriate medication therapy management. Key Responsibilities

• Dispense medications accurately and efficiently for inpatient units, ensuring compliance with prescriptions and protocols.
• Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management, patient counseling, and drug information services.
• Participate in multidisciplinary patient care rounds, collaborating with physicians and nurses on medication-related issues.
• Monitor patient therapy for effectiveness, safety, and adherence to formulary guidelines.
• Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians and other support staff.
• Maintain pharmacy inventory, order medications, and ensure proper storage and handling.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.).
• Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Hospital Pharmacist or in a clinical pharmacy setting.
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical therapeutics, pharmacology, and pharmacokinetics.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with pharmacy information systems and electronic health records.
