Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Hospital Pharmacist to manage inpatient pharmacy services in Soweto, ensuring safe dispensing, clinical support, and collaboration with physicians and nurses to optimize patient care.

The role requires SAPC registration, a B.Pharm or Pharm.D., and at least two years of hospital pharmacy experience, with strong communication and pharmacology knowledge. You will mentor staff and uphold formulary guidelines in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy is required.
• SAPC registration is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of hospital pharmacy/clinical experience.
• Strong knowledge of therapeutics, pharmacology and pharmacokinetics.

Responsibilities

• Dispense medications accurately for inpatient units following prescriptions and protocols.
• Provide clinical services including medication therapy management and patient counseling.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds with physicians and nurses.
• Monitor therapy for effectiveness, safety and formulary adherence.
• Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians and support staff.
• Maintain inventory and proper storage of medications.
