Placements24 in Durban is seeking a meticulous Payroll Accountant to manage payroll operations remotely across South Africa. The role focuses on accurate, timely payroll processing, statutory deductions, and compliance with SA tax laws.

You'll handle payroll reconciliations, data changes, and liaise with HR and finance to ensure data integrity. The ideal candidate has a SA payroll background, experience with Sage VIP or similar software, and a keen eye for detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Demonstrable experience in payroll processing and accounting, ideally with South African payroll systems.
• Knowledge of Sage Payroll, VIP Payroll, or similar software is advantageous.
• Understanding of South African tax laws and labor legislation pertaining to payroll.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll accurately and efficiently for all employees.
• Manage payroll data, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employee status.
• Ensure accurate calculation and deduction of taxes, UIF, SDL, and other statutory contributions.
• Perform payroll reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Liaise with HR and finance departments to ensure data consistency and compliance.
• Stay updated on relevant payroll legislation and ensure adherence to all regulations.
