Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Payroll Accountant to manage all aspects of payroll processing. The role can be performed remotely with flexible hours, supporting our HR and Finance teams from anywhere in South Africa.

You will ensure accurate payroll, maintain records, administer benefits, and stay compliant with SA labor laws and tax regulations. A proactive approach to resolving discrepancies and strong communication are essential for success in this remote, growing organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of payroll processing experience.
• Proficiency with payroll software (Sage, VIP Payroll, EasyPay) and HRIS.
• Strong knowledge of South African labor laws and tax regulations.
• Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to handle confidential information.

• Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll accurately and timely.
• Enter new hires, terminations, and changes in pay/benefits.
• Administer employee benefits programs and leave policies.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Payroll Accountant to manage all aspects of payroll processing for their organization. This role can be performed entirely remotely, offering flexibility to qualified candidates. The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining payroll records, managing employee benefits, and ensuring compliance with all relevant labor laws and tax regulations. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing and accounting.
• Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., Sage Payroll, VIP Payroll, EasyPay) and HRIS systems.
• Strong understanding of South African labor laws and tax regulations related to payroll.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Must be comfortable working remotely with reliable internet access and a dedicated workspace.
• Experience in Bloemfontein or surrounding areas is a plus, but not required for remote work.
