Job summary

Omnia Holdings, operating as BME, seeks an Operations Foreman for an opencast mine in Gamsberg, Northern Cape. You will manage customer accounts, coordinate resources, and ensure safe, efficient operation of blasting activities.

The role demands strong leadership, experience in surface mining, and a focus on cost control and compliance with safety/environmental standards. Reports to the Operations Manager and forms part of a diverse mining team.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 is required.
• Blasting Ticket is mandatory.
• Ms Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email).
• Blasting Assistant Certificate MQA is desired.
• Competent A Certificate - MQA is desired.

Responsibilities

• Manages customer accounts focusing on sales and service to support regional goals.
• Plans and organises resource availability to meet customer requests.
• Ensures assets are protected from theft and damage.
• Operates rollers, bending press and Guillotine.
• Coordinates building explosive truck tanks for timely deliveries.
• Administers stock and keeps paperwork up to date.
• Maintains documentation according to BME standards.
• Contributes inputs to annual budgeting for the department.
• Identifies cost-saving opportunities while balancing customer needs.
• Ensures incident investigations are conducted when needed.
• Ensures staff training is up to date.
• Monitors environmental impact of production and staff adherence.
• Plans daily/weekly/monthly work schedules and shift allocations.
• Ensures staff induction is completed.
• Provides required training to staff.
