Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Chief Mine Surveyor to lead the surveying department at a large open-pit mine near Pretoria. The role focuses on ensuring accuracy of spatial data for mine design, stockpiles and infrastructure, and requires directing a team of surveyors using advanced technologies.

The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of open-pit mining methods, extensive experience (≥10 years) in mine surveying, and a track record of data integrity and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or related field.
• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or equivalent registration.
• ≥10 years in mine surveying, ≥5 in supervisory role.

Responsibilities

• Oversee surface and underground mine surveying for accuracy and compliance.
• Manage collection, processing and reporting of survey data.
• Develop and implement survey control networks and standards.
• Operate and maintain advanced surveying equipment.
• Mentor junior survey staff and collaborate with planning teams.
