Placements24 is seeking an experienced Chief Mine Surveyor to lead surveying operations for mining facilities near Vereeniging, Gauteng. The role oversees survey control, data management, and compliance with regulatory standards, guiding a team of survey professionals.

The ideal candidate will possess a Professional Mine Surveyor registration, strong leadership, and extensive experience with modern surveying tools. Relocation support is possible; contribution to safety and planning is essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or National Diploma in Mine Surveying or Geomatics.
8+ years of professional experience in mine surveying, with underground/open-pit exposure.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Surpac, MinePlan or similar packages.

Responsibilities

Establish and maintain mine survey control networks for underground and surface operations.
Conduct and supervise development, stoping, subsidence, and boundary surveys.
Operate and maintain total stations, GPS, laser scanners, and drones; analyze data for mine plans and volume calculations.
Integrate survey data into mine planning and geological models.
Monitor ground stability and report on deformation through surveys.
Ensure compliance with South African mine surveying regulations and SOPs.
Mentor and develop junior surveyors and maintain survey records.
