Job summary

Brilliant Computers in Pietermaritzburg is seeking an IT Desktop and Network Support Dispatch to provide physical onsite assistance and support remote troubleshooting.

You will connect to network devices, open racks, power cycle per instruction, verify LEDs and cabling, and coordinate with the Remote Support Team for post-install verification. The role requires basic networking knowledge, hands-on troubleshooting, and the ability to follow runbooks exactly.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of network devices to identify types, ports and patch panels.
• Ability to follow runbooks exactly without deviation during remote guidance.
• Willingness to perform physical onsite tasks and basic troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical onsite assistance to enable remote troubleshooting and remediation.
• Connect to network devices via console as instructed by Remote Support Team.
• Provide access to racks, locate devices/ports, and perform power cycling as instructed.
• Verify LED status, link status, alarms, and cabling condition.
• Identify equipment types, ports, uplinks, and patch panel layouts.
• Follow step-by-step remote instructions and perform basic checks.
• Rack mounting/unmounting and cable management per site rules.
• Coordinate with Remote Support Team for post-install verification.
• Perform basic configuration actions only when instructed and approved.
