About the Role

About the Role Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Online Academic Advisor to support students enrolled in their Engineering programs. This role offers a Hybrid work arrangement, allowing for remote student consultations and administrative tasks, complemented by on-site support and team collaboration at our Randburg office. You will be instrumental in guiding students through their academic journey, helping them with course selection, degree planning, and understanding academic policies. The ideal candidate has a background in or strong understanding of engineering disciplines and possesses excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You will serve as a key point of contact for students, providing them with the resources and support needed to succeed in their studies. This is a crucial role in ensuring student satisfaction and retention within our esteemed Gauteng -based institution.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide academic guidance and support to undergraduate and postgraduate Engineering students via online channels (email, video calls, chat).
• Assist students in planning their course schedules, selecting appropriate modules, and ensuring they meet degree requirements.
• Interpret and explain university academic policies, procedures, and regulations to students.
• Monitor student academic progress and intervene proactively to offer support for students facing challenges.
• Conduct regular check-ins with students to discuss their academic goals and career aspirations.
• Liaise with faculty members and departmental staff to resolve student issues and provide program updates.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records within the advising system.
• Participate in orientation sessions for new students, both online and at the Randburg office.
• Contribute to the development of advising resources and workshops.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or a related field.
• A Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in academic advising, student support services, or a related role within a higher education setting.
• Strong understanding of engineering academic programs and requirements.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
• Proficiency in using student information systems (SIS) and online communication tools.
• Ability to work effectively both remotely and in an office environment at our Randburg location.
• Must be comfortable with a Hybrid work model and able to attend scheduled on-site meetings.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
