Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Industrial Engineer for its Mahikeng, North West facility to drive lean initiatives, optimize production processes and reduce costs. The role requires hands-on engagement with production teams and a strong focus on continuous improvement in a manufacturing setting.

The successful candidate will analyze workflows, develop practical solutions, and implement lean tools and SOPs to improve OEE and productivity while collaborating across operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial engineering focused on lean manufacturing and process improvement.
• Experience implementing lean tools and methodologies in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret production data.
• Proficiency in process mapping and MS Office Suite.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage operational staff.
• Knowledge of production planning and control systems.
• Experience with quality control procedures and systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze production processes, workflows, and layouts to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
• Lead the implementation of lean tools and techniques (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Kanban).
• Develop and implement SOPs to ensure consistency and quality in operations.
• Conduct time and motion studies to establish performance standards and optimize workforce productivity.
• Identify and implement solutions to reduce waste, minimize rework, and improve OEE.
• Collaborate with production supervisors to foster continuous improvement and problem-solving.
• Develop and track KPIs related to productivity, cost reduction, and quality.
• Assist in the design and layout of new production lines or modifications to existing ones.
• Provide training on lean principles and best practices.
• Support integration of new technologies and automation where appropriate.
