Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Mine Operations Manager to lead their mining operations near East London in the Eastern Cape. This senior leadership role oversees day-to-day mining activities, ensures safe, efficient and cost-effective production, and drives operational improvements in line with strategic objectives.

You will manage a diverse team, enforce safety and environmental standards, optimize planning and execution, and partner with regulators, communities, and contractors

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field; MBA is advantageous.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience in mining operations.
• Extensive knowledge of mining methods, equipment, safety regulations, and environmental best practices.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all underground and/or surface mining operations to achieve production targets.
• Ensure health, safety, and environmental management systems are implemented and enforced.
• Optimize mine planning and execution to maximize resource recovery and operational efficiency.
• Manage operational budgets, control costs, and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of mining professionals.
