Placements24 seeks a specialized Geotechnical Civil Engineer to join its Welkom operations, tackling soil and rock mechanics for safe mining infrastructure. You will lead investigations, analyze data, and design foundations, slopes, and ground support.

The role requires a Master's in Geotechnical Civil Engineering, Pr. Eng. is desirable, and a minimum of 7 years in mining geotechnical projects. Proficiency with PLAXIS/SLOPE/W/ SEEP/W is essential, along with strong reporting skills.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical specialization.
PR.Eng. registration is highly desirable.
Minimum 7 years of geotechnical experience, with mining focus.
Proficiency in geotechnical design software: PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, SEEP/W.
Strong report writing and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive geotechnical investigations (soil/rock sampling, in-situ tests, laboratory analysis).
Perform analyses for foundation design, slope stability, seismic hazards, and ground improvement.
Develop design recommendations for mine infrastructure, tailings dams, and processing plants.
Prepare geotechnical reports, design drawings, and specifications for projects.
Provide technical support during construction, ensuring compliance with designs.
Collaborate with mining engineers and geologists to integrate geotechnical into mine planning.
