About the Role

Our client, a significant mining entity operating in the Northern Cape , is seeking a dynamic and capable Mining Engineer with a focus on Production . This full-time, on-site position based in Upington requires a professional dedicated to optimizing daily mining output and ensuring safe, efficient operations. You will be responsible for mine planning, scheduling, drill and blast design, and directly supporting operational teams to achieve production targets. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mining methods, equipment capabilities, and safety protocols relevant to both underground and open-pit operations. You will work closely with supervisors, surveyors, and other engineers to ensure that production plans are executed effectively and safely. This is a challenging and rewarding role for a motivated engineer eager to make a tangible impact on mine performance and contribute to the company's success in one of South Africa's key mining regions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement short-term production plans and schedules.
• Design and optimize drill and blast patterns to achieve desired fragmentation and safety standards.
• Monitor daily production performance, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions.
• Provide technical support and guidance to mining supervisors and crews.
• Collaborate with surveyors to ensure accurate mine development and reconciliation.
• Conduct mine site inspections to ensure adherence to safety procedures and operational standards.
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to mining methods and equipment utilization.
• Prepare production reports, including performance metrics and variance analysis.
• Contribute to long-term mine planning and feasibility studies.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Requirements

• BSc/BEng in Mining Engineering.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in mining production engineering, preferably within South Africa .
• Strong understanding of drill and blast principles and techniques.
• Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, MinePlan) and CAD.
• Experience with production monitoring and reporting systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
