Placements24 is seeking an experienced Mine Manager for our Upington operations in the Northern Cape. The role demands on-site leadership of mining activities, ensuring safe, efficient and profitable operations through strategic planning and strong financial oversight.

You will manage a diverse team of engineers, geologists and supervisors, drive performance, and champion a robust safety culture while delivering sustainable value for the business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related technical field.
• Master's degree or MBA is advantageous.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or equivalent is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership, budgeting and safety management experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily mine operations, including production, maintenance, safety and environmental compliance.
• Develop and implement strategic and operational plans to meet production targets and financial objectives.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Lead and develop the mine workforce to foster a high-performance culture.
• Manage budgets and control costs to optimize profitability.

About the Role

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing, or a related technical field.
• A Master's degree or MBA is advantageous.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience in the mining industry, with at least 5 years in a mine management role.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale mining operations (open-pit or underground).
• Extensive knowledge of mining methods, equipment, safety regulations, and environmental best practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent financial acumen and experience managing budgets and P&Ls.
• Proficiency in mine planning software and operational management systems.
• Ability to make sound decisions in complex and challenging environments.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or equivalent professional qualification is highly desirable.
