About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Mine Planning Engineer to join their team supporting operations near Upington. You will be responsible for developing and optimizing short-term and long-term mine plans, ensuring efficient and safe extraction of resources while maximizing economic value. This role requires a strong understanding of mining methods, geostatistics, and mine planning software. You will work closely with geologists, surveyors, and operations personnel to translate geological models into actionable production schedules, contributing to the strategic direction and operational success of the mine, with opportunities for both remote and on-site collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and update short-term and long-term mine production plans.
• Optimize mine layouts, designs, and schedules to maximize resource utilization and economic return.
• Integrate geological models and survey data into mine planning software.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects or expansions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in all planning activities.
• Liaise with operational teams to ensure effective implementation of mine plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design.
• Proficiency with mine planning software such as Deswik , Vulcan, or Datamine.
• Strong understanding of surface and/or underground mining methods and sequences.
• Knowledge of geostatistics and resource estimation principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for operations in the Northern Cape region.
