Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mine Planning Analyst for an on-site role in Upington, Northern Cape. You will translate geological data and operational constraints into weekly and monthly mine production plans, coordinating with geology and operations teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in mine planning, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with Surpac, Vulcan, or Deswik. Open-pit/underground experience and safety/regulatory awareness are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of mining planning/operations analysis experience.
• Proficiency with Surpac, Vulcan, Deswik or similar planning software.
• Understanding of open-pit or underground mining methods and constraints.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain short-term mine production plans (weekly, monthly) for open-pit or underground operations.
• Generate detailed mine layouts, schedules, and ore control plans using mine planning software.
• Collaborate with geologists to interpret geological models and integrate them into planning processes.
• Work with mine supervisors and foremen to ensure plans are executable and receive feedback.
• Monitor daily and weekly production against plan; identify variances and propose corrective actions.
• Assist in optimizing mine sequencing, waste management, and equipment utilization.
• Prepare reports on production performance, adherence to plan, and potential risks.
• Ensure mine plans comply with safety, health, and environmental standards.
• Support long-term mine planning team with data and analysis as required.
• Maintain accurate records of mine plans and operational data.
