Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Lead Mining Engineer to oversee operations in Cape Town, Western Cape. You will lead a team of mining professionals, drive optimization, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance in a dynamic mining environment.

The ideal candidate holds a Mining Engineering degree, 10+ years of progression in mining operations, and is a Pr Eng registered professional in South Africa. This senior role offers strategic leadership and international exposure.

Qualifications

• BSc or BEng in Mining Engineering is required.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive mining experience (underground or open-pit).
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is essential.
• Experience using Deswik/Surpac or similar mining planning tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement mine plans with short- and long-term production schedules.
• Oversee daily mining operations ensuring optimal resource utilization and quality standards.
• Mentor engineers, supervisors and mine personnel, promoting safety and high performance.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new projects and expansions.
• Implement and monitor best practices in mine safety, health, and environmental management.
• Collaborate with geologists, metallurgists and other stakeholders to meet targets.
